A Cathedral with a bell tower over forty meters high.

The largest temple in the province of Badajoz is the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista. Its construction began in the 13th century after the conquest of the city by the Christians, following the orders of Alfonso X "The Wise". The work was slow and was not completed until the 15th century , although additions continued to be made until the 18th century.

It is a place of prayer for Christians but, in general, for the visitor it is a place that inspires tranquility and immense peace. Either by the interior atmosphere or by its marked Gothic style, it will transport you to another era and invite you to sit for a while, whether you are of any religious creed or none, to think and reflect if only because we live so fast.

How to get there? Access is from Plaza de España, number 1.

Available all year round, the visit takes place from Tuesday to Saturday mornings from 11:00 to 13:00 and afternoons from 17:00 to 19:00 in winter and from 18:00 to 20:00 in summer.

Accessible for people with reduced mobility.
