A Jewish quarter integrated into the local and historical architecture of Plasencia
Open map Plasencia (Cáceres), España
The epicenter of this Jewish quarter is currently occupied by the stairs and the fountain in the Plaza de San Nicolas. Around this you can visit streets such as Púa Zapatería, Calle Coria, or Calle Santa Isabel, which keep in their framework the signs of the Sephardic occupation in the city of Plasencia.
The Jews coexisted peacefully until the expulsion decree in the 15th century. Today, some plaques mark on the ground of these streets the houses that were occupied by the families that lived in those times and of which there is evidence, thus paying homage to those who made the city prosper in the past.
Available all year round.
Accessible for people with reduced mobility.
