The fear of the capture of the city by the Muslims made that they began to raise these imposing walls in 1178. When Al-Mansur arrived in Plasencia in 1196 they were not yet finished and Plasencia fell into the hands of the invaders although for a short time since Alfonso VIII reconquered it a year later, finishing the definitive construction. This defense has a double system, wall and barbican, separated by a moat and reinforced by semicircular towers.
This building gives us the possibility of admiring the Lucia Tower, the gates of Coria, Trujillo "Cañón de la Salud", Talavera, del Sol, el Clavero, Berrozana or the Carro and the Postigos of Santa Maria, San Antón, Santiago and El Salvador, forming a heritage of great beauty. These visits to Plasencia will always find the best end in any of its taverns or restaurants where you can taste a careful gastronomy and a culture of tapas that has no equal.
