Castle of Montánchez
Montánchez is located on a high hill on which stands majestically its castle of Roman origin. The castle, which is visible from a distance, is an ideal place to visit. It is a little above the village and, from there, you can go up in just 10-15 minutes. At the top there is a wide esplanade, where the hermitage and the castle coexist. It is possible to walk and, above all, we can delight ourselves with the kilometric views that so imposing watchtower offers us. \If you go at sunset you can be surprised by a fantastic sunset.
Basilica of Santa Lucia del Trampal
In Alcuéscar we can visit this basilica and its interpretation center that the Junta de Extremadura has built right next to it. Perhaps, at first glance, it seems little, but for lovers of historic buildings can be a wonderful treasure. It is a building of the Visigoth period (back in the seventh to ninth centuries), and most importantly, is the ONLY one that remains standing in the entire southern half of the Iberian Peninsula. It is a monument of cultural interest with the category of Monument.
