One of the cities in Extremadura that has best preserved its heritage

Trujillo is one of the greatest historical and artistic jewels of the province of Cáceres. Of Roman origin with the name Turgalium, lived its golden age in the sixteenth century after the discovery of America. Cradle of Francisco de Pizarro, Diego García de Paredes and Francisco de Orellana, among the most renowned conquerors, obtained great benefits from their sons Indians, which had an impact on urban development that dotted every corner of the city of large palaces marked with heraldic shields. Much of this ostentation is still preserved. Also worth a visit is the 9th century castle and the imposing walled enclosure.
