The Convent of the controversy destroyed by a popular revolution

It is a complex consisting of a church and convent founded in the seventeenth century by Juan de Chaves y Mendoza. Its conservation is quite bad and it is currently in ruins, more the convent than the church. This one is very interesting. It has a Latin cross plan and is covered by a large barrel vault topped by a hemispherical dome.

It must have been decorated inside, as evidenced by the remains of what may have been altarpieces or trompe l'oeil projects. Legends are told about this place, apparitions of mysterious lights, existence of miraculous waters. Also, as a curiosity, there were circumstances of abuse by the religious community towards the people in terms of water regulation that ended with a popular uprising and expulsion of the religious from the town.
