3 places to visit from Montánchez

Montánchez and Tamuja is an ideal place to visit the magic triangle of Extremadura cities. It is practically at the same distance from Cáceres, Mérida and Trujillo.

Cáceres, medieval city

At 40-45 minutes we can visit the city of Cáceres. A spectacular city World Heritage Site. If you are staying in Montánchez come one morning an afternoon, visit the monumental city, if possible with a guided tour and at the end of the day return to the tranquility of the countryside of Montánchez. And the next day you will be ready to visit another city. If you want to know more about Cáceres or hire a guided tour, here I leave you a link so you can see it in more depth.

Merida, a Roman city

A 35-40 minutes away we have another city that you can not miss in Extremadura (also a World Heritage Site). In a short one-morning getaway you have it very easy. You must visit the Roman Theater of Merida. It is not the same to see it in a photograph than to see it live. The whole complex of ruins that accompany the theater (amphitheater and circus), you will love it. And if you have time you should also take a look at the aqueduct and the temple of Diana.

35-40 minutes by car. Trujillo is a large town with an impressive heritage. Although it is not as well known as Mérida and Cáceres, it is a must visit. The wonderful square, used to recreate one of the villas of Game of Thrones, the figure of Francisco Pizarro, the narrow streets, the castle and viewpoint. The castle and viewpoint. Yes, for sure, you will like Trujillo. It also has a wide range of guided tours and places to eat.
